Fort Randall Dam Poem

We drive in
with camper and boat lined
up like a train
we meet our friends
me and my friends
go down below
the dam
we fish
my friend gets a snag
he keeps pulling
you can hear the fishing pole,
the pole broke
and hit him like
a whip in the back
he's crying
we see his back
it looks like a whip
did hit him
his mom calms him down
it was his
dad's pole
afraid that
his dad would be mad
he tells him
his mom backs him up
his dad understands
we gather around
the campfire
use the Can Cooker
I'm dared to eat
a minnow cooked
I put the minnow
in the can
put it over the
it's crispy when i took a bite out of it
it tastes horrible
the next day
we ride in the back
of the pickup
haul the boat
to the dock
we see Darik
and his family
we load the boat
in the water
and drive away
we get by a cove
put our life jackets
on and SPLASH!
we float
when we leave
we put our lifejackets
on the motor cover
we look back
one lifejacket
flew away
we were sad
went for a ride
in the boat
life is good
on the Missouri river
in Nebraska

Ode to Nebraska

like a coyote
across a prairie
four wheeling
like a monster
tearing up the sand

Capital- Lincoln
Governor- Pete Ricketts
Bird- beautiful, majestic, Meadowlark
Flower- crazy golden rod
sprouting up everywhere
known- hunting, like a mountain lion tracking a gopher
Nebraska, one of kind state

Persona poem-
the inzone is yelling
pick me, pick me
run on my face
stomp on me
please just run to me
I want to play football too
without me no one would win
My body says Nebraska
It's lettering is like a tattoo
I soak up the sun in the day
and lay down at night
waiting, waiting
for a touchdown

"Nebraska" Football

The players
coming out of the tunnel walk
the crowd
the memorial stadium
that seats beyond
85,000 Nebraskans
home of the huskers
since 1923
record breaking sellouts
reached 325 games
in 2012
no football game
the Husker's crowd

snowmobile handle warm
warm engine

the smell of nature

looks like, white
snowmobiles everywhere
Black Hills, South Dakota
the orange snowmobile I ride

The sound of wind whipping
on vast praries
engine revving

tastes like coffee

Rhyming Poem

He shot the gun
at a hamburger bun
it was his target
but now he runs to the market
tannerite was in the fridge
it's on the bridge
he takes his aim
now see's a ball of flame
metal flew past him in a zoom
he takes his gun
now on a dead run

Wrestling is a stress ball

Wrestling is a stress ball
relieves anger
the harder you try
the more stress relieving
it is
wrestling gets tiring
like a stress ball
squeezed every second all day
don't squeeze to hard
or be cocky
or you will lose

Found Poem from Dr.Pausch

                                His final lecture
                                Just in case
We have to play the hand
                                We must be prepared
                                With no morose
                                On our face
                                That is
                                He's in a better place
                                Just let him go
                                Don't worry
                                You will see him soon

My Motivator about Blind sight

If you want to win a Basketball game, a Football game, or a goal it takes teamwork.  This theme means to me that to accomplish things you need teamwork.  When the instructors helped the blind kids in Blindsight the movie it took teamwork to get to the top.  The instructors guided them up the mountain and reached them how to climb.  It relates to my life because my team in sports needs teamwork to win games.  It’s like Football, without linemen, quarterback, wide receiver’s and many more you could not score.  The quarterback would get tackled without linemen to guard them.  When the soldiers need to shoot a cannon like below it takes teamwork.  They need a coordinator, loader, a team to shoot it.  A lot of things needs teamwork to accomplish it.  This is what teamwork means to me.

american freedom

American Freedom

American freedom to me is the right to bear arms, bravery, and war.  Freedom isn’t free.  American soldiers throughout the years died for our freedom and our country.
These are the important things to me.  War is one of them because we have fought and been involved in a lot of wars including: Revolutionary War, The Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.  There is a lot more wars that U.S has been involved but there is to many to mention. From all the wars the death rate ranges from 150 million-1 billion people.  Now do you see how freedom isn’t free?
The next important thing to me is the Right to Bear Arms.  The Bill of Rights Act in 1689 allowed for Protestant citizenry to have arms for their Defense suitable to their conditions.  The right to bear arms let’s us defend our families from other people who wants to hurt us bad.  Guns also help us for food.  We can then hunt for food.  We also need them for war, or we would be defenseless and would get taken over by another country.  Not that many people realize how useful guns are.  Gun don’t kill people, people kill people.
The last important thing to me is bravery.  Soldiers volunteered to fight for our country, they didn't have to risk and sacrifice their lives for us, but they wanted to.  Soldiers care about their country and what we stand for.  If you see a veteran or a soldier tell them thank you for their service, they were the brave ones and put their lives on the line for us.

The conclusion of my essay on what freedom means to me is that freedom isn’t free and that we are so lucky to have all of the things we have.  The most important things to me is bravery, war, The right to bear arms.  If it weren’t for soldiers we wouldn’t be talking english.  My advice to you is think about the millions of americans who went to war and are risking their lives for you right now to have what you have.  If you see a veteran, shake his hand and tell him that you appreciate his service very much and that you could never thank him enough.  The things I learned was that war,  bravery, and The Right to Bear Arms.

Steve Clark Our School Ghost Def Leppard guitarist

                                       Steve Clark: Our School ghost

Have you ever seen the ghost Steve Clark, the Def Leppard guitarist in the hallway? He wears a Def Leppard shirt, blue jeans, and Air Jordan shoes.  He has long, dirty blonde hair.

Steve hides in the closet in Mod 2 which is the English room.  He waits until the period three kid’s come into the room.  You will often hear him playing “Photograph” on the intercom. He is tall and skinny and smells of “Old Spice” cologne.  He is nice to kids here at school and wouldn’t hurt any of his friends.  Sometimes you can even hear his medium pitched voice in class singing “Photograph”.

The song- “ Photograph” by Def Leppard truly is one of his favorite songs.  He listens to it all the time. Another favorite is “Pour Some Sugar on Me”.  Steve has a strong sense of humor and can make anyone laugh. He is a ghost from the 1980’s people say, or is stuck in the 1980’s. Later on he became the guitarist of the band Def Leppard.

He died of drug overdose in 1991 and now he roams the O’Neill High School hallways.  For some reason though he is 15 years old as a ghost. The teacher’s enjoy his company. They treat him as a classmate.

He will sit by you at lunch if you ask him to.  He will help you on your homework too.  He will never cheat and give you the answer.  The ghost of Steve Clark is a very good friend and always loyal. If you see him in the hallways say “hi” to him and don’t be shy.

Hogwarts Feast

When I walked into the hall I smelled the delicious cheesecake, the orange pumpkin pie, the red crab legs, the big lobster tail, catfish, and the crawfish.  There were tables that looked like they were endless, filled with hollering and screaming kids.  There were kids flying all around the room on their broom sticks.  Ghosts are hovering in the air.  This is gonna be one crazy feast with the pumpkins floating and the bats in the air.
The smell was so delicious that I had to keep myself calm with all the great food.  You could hear the rumbling from the thunderstorm outside.  The hall was enormous.  The sky was dark and you could hear the pattering rain on the roof.  You could taste the sweetness in the air.

I sat down at the table and tried the crab legs first.  They tasted amazing as I dug in to them.  Then I tried the lobster.  It was just like the crab, it was amazing too!  The best was the crawfish. It was so sweet and juicy!  I then tried the pumpkin pie with whip cream on the top.  It was so good I had two pieces.  Then it was game time.  We had broom races, played tag, and played hide n seek.  This was the most fun I have had for a long time.  I will be staying up all night I know

"Higgledy, piggledy, my black hen..."
Higgledy, piggledy, my midnight black hen,
She lays eggs for
kind gentlemen;
nuavae, sometimes a decade;
Higgledy, piggledy, my

"Dot Day"

Today is dot day.  My dot is very colorful for me.  It has some colors that are kind of a warm feeling.   I love the color of purple.  I don't have to be a artist to draw things or odor things.  Thank you for reading this.

An Unforgettable School Day

The misery, insanity, and the enragement filled me up, and I just wanted to keep hitting him over and over until he screamed stop.  Just one hard hit would’ve cured it in a hurry.  I was in 6th grade in PE and the thug and I were at it all day.  He was a classmate that bullied me for years prior to my transferring to the public school. He got so mad that he took me down and got on top of me.
He kept hitting me.  Then i got on top of him and I was just about to hit him hard when the PE teacher pulled me off him.  He sent us to the office.  I remember the way I felt going to the office and waiting to talk to the principal.
I was afraid that I was in big trouble and hoping not to get grounded at home.  I had to talk to the principal and got issued an out of school suspension.  I was very sad and mad at the same time.  I had to sit in the teacher’s room for the rest of the day.
I didn’t get in trouble by my parents, but I still was sad that I got a suspension. But i had to stand up for myself.  The good thing is that the next day, I got to help my grandpa at the old feed store clearing trees.

I learned to stand up for myself.  Don’t be afraid and you’ll get through it.  Good things came of it though, I was able to help my grandpa and didn’t get in trouble. Not always is it this simple but I got lucky.

bedroom writing

Tyler Winings
Eng7 Period 3

Bedroom Writing

Here is my room.  As I’m looking around my room I see my bayonets and wonder if my really old bayonet was actually in the war.  It’s old, dirty, dingy, blade, and it’s darker wood grips from aging.  The mintmark SS.  And the barely readable digits 1940 something.  My SKS bayonet with its shiny blade gleaming in the light with it’s black base.  Oh and my air soft gun from the 1980’s that shows light wear on the exterior.  My dad bought it in school.  My two 22 lr's  the one that is accurate with the shiny and beautiful stock and that shiny stainless steel barrel.  The receiver and the little nob to pull back for it to fire.  Then my other 22, the Mossberg 151 mb.  With the barrel that the bluing is coming off, the worn stock, and the missing top piece of the mannlicher stock. The slot in the side to load the shells into the tubular magazine.  The black receiver with the dull metal showing.

When I'm looking around I also see my Dodge posters and inside my desk my Dodge parts and emblems.  The shininess of the metal on the “PowerWagon” emblem. And the 100 and the 200 emblems.  My gauges for the battery amps and the gas to a 1970’s Dodge pickup.  My Beats headphones from christmas that I got from my grandma.  Then my painted brown dresser that used to be my great grandma’s.  My grandpa remembers it from when he was a kid.  It means a lot to me because my Great Grandma Winings passed away on my grandma’s birthday two years ago.  She was 93 years old.  I’m rich beyond measure.
